Membership in the American Academy of Lower Extremity Medicine and Surgery is available to all Podiatrists who are in active practice, residency, and all Student doctors.

Board Certification is available to all practitioners  fulfilling the criteria discussed in the "are you eligible" tab in the More section

AALEMAS was established to provide a comprehensive Board certification for those Podiatrists who have been in practice  since prior to the establishment of the standardized three year Podiatric residency program.   With the onset of the new Boards requiring a three year residency this made it difficult for more experienced  Podiatrists to gain certification.  AALEMAS has corrected this issue for these practitioners. 

  AALEMAS has a standardized  certification for all aspects of Foot, Ankle, and Lower Leg Surgery combined with Podiatric Medicine.
